Wiring a dimmer switch l1 l2

The instructions that came with it are crap! Any offers on how to install it ? Dimmers look slightly different to standard switches being much more chunky. When you screw the cable to the new switch make sure they are nice and tight and no bare wire are showing.


Re-fix the switch to the back box and turn.

Lis off when Lis on and vice versa .

The wires from your old switch can be connected either way round to the C and Lterminals of the dimmerswitch.

There are two wiring options for this: More advanced dimmer . The colour of the wires may vary but you must know where each should go on your new dimmer switch. Brown (or red) wire must go into C (Common). Grey wire must go into L(if black, it can go into Lor L).


COM on the first switch connects to COM on the second switch, Lto L, and Lto L2. L= C L= LL= LIf the new switches are metal, you must connect the switch to earth (Terminal on the plate, you connect it to the existing earth wires ) Also are the new dimmers rated enough to cope with the lamps? The rating must be more than the total of the lamps. My old one is marked L, Land C - my new one is marked Loa Slave and Live . NOTE: IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT ON HOW TO. Switch OFF the mains supply and remove the appropriate fuse or switch off the appropriate circuit breaker before commencing installation.


Ensure that no one else has access that would enable the supply. Be cautious when opening up multi-way switches. The lights they control should take power from the same circuit, but if yours are incorrectly wired and take power from different circuits, there will be live cables at each switch position when one circuit is isolated. There is more than one method of wiring multi-way lights. The Land Coms just need to have the same wiring on the new dimmer switch.


Note: Our dimmer switches are not suitable for use with fluorescent loads, including. COM or Common is the terminal to which the live core wire is attached - this is the brown wire (formerly red). Please read these notes carefully before commencing work.


Make sure the power is isolated from the circuit. The LED dimmer should be connected as: L1. When the switch is on, both terminals are connected together. Typically, these terminals will be marked COM and L(sometimes Land L).


Just to check would the single wire on either side be connected to the com on my original light switches and the other two wires be connected to the Land L? If this is so which inputs do you think they would connect to on the lightwave dimmer sockets? I have the dimmer switch and the instructions are appalling.
