Two way and intermediate switch wiring

Notice that the wire connected to the COM terminals is looped straight through the intermediate . At this point you will have the Line wire of the supply cable still not connected. Do NOT connect the Line wire to the Line terminal because then your light would be permanently ON. What we need is to utilise the two - way and intermediate switching available . Three core and earth cable is required to install two or three way switching and this should be run from the first light switch to the second ( intermediate ) and then to the third switch and then wired as shown in this diagram.

Switch one is the switch that contains the live wire and switched live wire.

Student training aid for the connections required to wire two way and two way and intermediate switching.

Video explains the connection required within two w. Hope it will helps in your home project. Showing my wiring of an intermediate switch working for college. It should be fitted between the first and the last switches on the circuit. If replacing an existing switch, note the location of the terminals and the colour and position of cable connections. Dotted lines show alternative switch positions.

Two - way switching – wire control. All you need for this Circuit are: The Main wires : Earth, Line and Neutral 2- Gang- Two way switches with Land LAn Intermediate Switch. This was done in London using 2Volts. All you basically do is Bring you mains to Switches 1 . I turned off the breaker switch at the box, wired the new 4- way switch your way ( red on one side, black on the other) - and VOILA!

One way switch Two way switch Intermediate switch. The diagrams here are all one gang, as there is one switch on each plate. The switches themselves are one way, two way and intermediate. Brown sleeve to be added to switched live. All earth wires must be sleeved and terminated to the back box.

Alternative method of Three Way Switching. This is an alternative deprecated form (see above for the reasons) of the multi way switch wiring : MultiWaySwitchingDepricated. The intermediate light switch is used where three or more switches control one light and used in conjunction with two two way light switches to achieve this. So we use these wires to control the dimmer.

This is actually the same wiring used in Figure but in the ceiling . This switch is designed for mains voltage lighting . IMPORTANT: Read ALL sections below before installing this switch. Maximum load for Switch modules is 6A. On intermediate for two way you would wire commen to top and strappers to bottom or vice versa.
